SpinBob Account Blocked, Restricted or Suspended

A blocked SpinBob account is stressful, but most restrictions have a clear cause and a clear fix. We explain every reason, what happens to your balance, how to appeal and how long each fix usually takes.

What a blocked SpinBob account means

Seeing “account restricted” or “account suspended” when you log in to SpinBob can feel alarming, but it rarely means anything sinister. UK-licensed casinos are required by the Gambling Commission to verify who you are, check that you can afford to play and stop anyone who has self-excluded. Those rules mean accounts are paused regularly — often automatically — while a check is completed.

There are four broad levels you might see:

  • Locked — a temporary security block, usually after failed login attempts. Lifts on its own.
  • Restricted — you can log in but cannot deposit, play or withdraw until something is resolved.
  • Suspended — the account is frozen while a review takes place.
  • Closed — the account has been shut, either by you, through self-exclusion, or by the operator.

Each reason explained, with the fix

KYC incomplete or expired

UK rules require identity and age verification before you play. If your documents are missing, unreadable or out of date — proof of address must be dated within the last three months — SpinBob will restrict the account until they are updated. Upload clear photos in Account → Verification. Our KYC verification guide covers photo tips and the common rejection reasons.

Age not verified

If the automatic age check at registration could not confirm you are 18 or over, the account stays restricted until you upload photo ID. This applies to free-play demos too, which UK rules also require to be age-gated.

Security lock

Five wrong password attempts lock your SpinBob login for 30 minutes. It is a protective measure against someone guessing their way in. Wait it out and use “Forgot password” rather than trying again. See login problems for more.

Duplicate account

One account per person is the rule. If you registered twice — perhaps forgetting an old account — SpinBob will usually suspend the newer one. Tell support honestly which account you want to keep. If a duplicate was used to claim a second welcome bonus, expect that bonus and any winnings from it to be removed.

Suspected bonus abuse

Patterns such as several accounts in one household claiming the welcome offer, or betting strategies designed to clear wagering without risk, can trigger a review. Bonus funds are frozen during the check. Your real-money deposits are not at stake; bonus money and bonus winnings may be. Explain your situation clearly and keep your messages factual.

Chargeback

If you ask your bank to reverse a deposit, SpinBob will normally suspend the account until the matter is settled. A chargeback is treated as a serious step — see our payment problems guide before considering one.

Payment-method mismatch

Deposits and withdrawals must use methods registered in your own name. A card belonging to a partner or a shared e-wallet will block withdrawals until ownership is proven or you switch to your own method.

Affordability review

UK operators must check that your play is affordable. If your deposits rise or your spending pattern changes, SpinBob may ask for Source of Funds documents such as payslips, bank statements or a P60. Until they are reviewed, deposits may be limited. This is not an accusation — it is a regulatory duty.

VPN or playing from outside the UK

SpinBob UK is for players in Great Britain. Logging in through a VPN, or from abroad, can trigger an automatic block. Switch the VPN off and log in from home. If you are travelling, wait until you are back.

Self-exclusion and GAMSTOP

If you self-excluded through SpinBob’s Safer Gambling settings (6 months to 5 years) or registered with GAMSTOP, your account will stay closed for the full period. Support agents cannot lift it early, however politely you ask — and that is by design.

We know that can feel frustrating if you now feel ready to play again. But self-exclusion is a promise you made to yourself at a moment when you knew it was the right call, and UK rules make sure it holds. When the period ends, a GAMSTOP exclusion stays in place until you actively ask GAMSTOP to remove it, and returning to an operator usually involves a cooling-off period and confirmation steps.

ℹ️ If the urge to play is strong

That feeling is common and you are not alone. GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133. Blocking software such as Gamban or BetBlocker can add an extra layer of protection. See our responsible gambling page.

A shorter time-out (24 hours to 6 weeks) also cannot be reversed once set. It simply ends at the time shown.

What happens to your balance

Your real-money balance is yours. Under UK rules, operators must hold player funds and return them when an account closes, subject to any checks. In practice:

  • Restricted or suspended: your balance stays in the account and is untouched while the review runs.
  • Closed by you or through self-exclusion: remaining real money is returned to a verified payment method in your name.
  • Closed for a breach of terms: real-money deposits are generally refundable; bonus funds and bonus winnings may be voided.

If a withdrawal was pending when the restriction landed, it will usually wait until the check is complete. Our withdrawal problems guide explains why.

How to appeal a SpinBob account decision

  1. Ask why. Open live chat or a Help Centre ticket and ask which reason applies to your account. Support should tell you what is needed.
  2. Supply what is asked. Upload documents promptly and in full. Partial uploads restart the clock.
  3. Log a formal complaint if you disagree. Ask for a reference number and keep copies of every message.
  4. Wait for the final response. UKGC rules give SpinBob up to 8 weeks.
  5. Escalate to IBAS (ibas-uk.com), the free independent adjudicator, if the outcome is unsatisfactory or the deadline passes.

Remember that SpinBob does not publish a phone number or street address for players — all contact runs through live chat and the Help Centre form. Treat any message claiming to be SpinBob support from another channel with caution.

Timeline expectations

Most UK players who see a restriction have it lifted in a day or two. KYC blocks are the fastest to clear once good documents are in. Affordability and duplicate-account reviews take longer because they may involve several rounds of questions. Self-exclusion periods are fixed. If you have heard nothing after 48 hours, a polite live chat follow-up is reasonable.

Once you are back in, our SpinBob login guide is a useful refresher on two-step verification and keeping your account secure.

Quick answers

Why has my SpinBob account been restricted?

+

The most common reasons are incomplete or expired KYC documents, an affordability review or a security lock. Other causes include a duplicate account, a GAMSTOP match, a chargeback or logging in through a VPN from outside Great Britain.

Will I lose my balance if my SpinBob account is closed?

+

Your real-money balance belongs to you and should be returned once any checks are complete, normally to a verified payment method in your name. Bonus funds and bonus winnings can be removed if the closure is linked to bonus abuse or a breach of the terms.

Can SpinBob lift my self-exclusion early?

+

No. A UK self-exclusion or GAMSTOP registration cannot be lifted before the period ends, even if you ask. This protects you during a period you chose when you were thinking clearly, and support teams are not allowed to override it.

How long does it take to unblock a SpinBob account?

+

A security lock clears in 30 minutes and a KYC restriction usually lifts within 24–48 hours of clear documents being uploaded. Affordability and duplicate-account reviews can take several days, depending on what information is needed.

How do I appeal a SpinBob account closure?

+

Ask live chat or the Help Centre form to log a formal complaint and give you a reference. SpinBob must send a final response within 8 weeks, and if you disagree you can take the case to IBAS free of charge.
